When I think of why I joined Aephi, the one thing that comes to mind is the people. I've never felt more welcomed or comfortable around a group of people and I could truly see myself being apart of it. Aephi has given me my best friends in the world and has allowed me to become a better version of myself. Whether we're all together at sisterhood events, walking around the monuments, or just hanging out, I have made some of my favorite memories with my sisters. I couldn't be more grateful for the support system that Aephi has provided for me and I feel so lucky to be apart of something so meaningful and so much bigger than myself." - Miranda Katz 💚#whyiwentgreek #whyiwentphi #aephigw
Our sister, Michaela, accomplished a lot this summer! Throughout the past few months, she has been interning for a company in Massachusetts called TJX which is the parent company for T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, Homegoods and other large international brands.
1. What did you learn from working at TJX? Michaela: I had the opportunity to intern in the IT area of TJX focusing on communications, such as building an intranet site for all associates! I am double majoring in Communications and Political Science, so I really enjoyed applying communication skills to a Fortune 89 company and in the IT area. I had the opportunity to learn several tech skills including HTML coding and SharePoint! 2. What's the most interesting experience you've had? Michaela: The internship program at TJX was really incredible! I had the opportunity to eat lunch with several senior leaders in the company to discuss career paths and the growth of the company. The CEO also took the time to speak to the interns about our role in the company! I found it interesting, and was appreciative of, the open-door policy the company has! 3. What has been the most rewarding part of working at TJX? Michaela: I really grew this summer during my time at the company! I found it really rewarding to complete longer-term projects from start to finish during my internship and see the impact of those initiatives! I'm actually graduating a semester early at the end of this Fall and from my time at TJX I am confident in my ability to adapt to any future internship or job! Be sure to check back in again next week to hear more about what our amazing AEPhi GW sisters are doing this summer! So excited for Bid Day 2016! We can't wait to welcome our new sisters to our AEPhi pham! 💚👭 #aephigw #gogreek #discoveryourhome"One of the biggest reasons why I went phi was because of the genuine sisterhood that I realized AEPhi stood for. From hearing how highly all of the girls spoke of each other and of their sister's accomplishments during different rounds of recruitment, to the genuine smiles on their faces as I entered the room each day, it became very clear that AEPhi's tight knit community would be something that would help shape my college experience in an amazing way. As I am about to enter my senior year at GW, it's hard to think about what the last three years would have been like without the guidance, support system and friendships that I can happily thank Alpha Epsilon Phi for." -- Taylor Lashley, Alpha Pi 💚 #whyiwentgreek#whyiwentphi #aephigw
This summer our sister, Joey, was lucky enough to be able to spend time with some sisters of AEPhi. She also helps run her town's farmers market every week with her mom.
1. What made you decide that you wanted to work at the NYU Hospital?
Our sister, Rachel, is working with adults with developmental disabilities at an organization called Yachad that promotes independence in these individuals and teaches them life skills.
1. How did you get involved with Yachad? Rachel: I got involved with the organization Yachad, because the mother of the family I babysat for last summer works there. I knew she was a social worker and worked with people with disabilities (which are both interests of mine) so I reached out to her and got hooked up with the job. 2. What's been the most rewarding part of your job so far? Rachel: The most rewarding part of my job is watching the individuals I work with learn and thrive. 3. What's your favorite part of summer? Rachel: My favorite part of the summer are my weekends. I love just hanging out either at the beach or in NYC and exploring new places and restaurants. 4. What are you most looking forward to about going back to school? Rachel: I am most looking forward to being back in DC with everyone and being a senior! I'm also excited to finally not be living in a dorm and getting an apartment! Be sure to check back in again next week to hear more about what our amazing AEPhi GW sisters are doing this summer! Our sister Gabby is having an amazing summer abroad working for the Institute of Corporate Responsibility at GW and Ford Motor Company, along with studying at the London School of Economics!
