Our sister, Michaela, accomplished a lot this summer! Throughout the past few months, she has been interning for a company in Massachusetts called TJX which is the parent company for T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, Homegoods and other large international brands.
1. What did you learn from working at TJX?
Michaela: I had the opportunity to intern in the IT area of TJX focusing on communications, such as building an intranet site for all associates! I am double majoring in Communications and Political Science, so I really enjoyed applying communication skills to a Fortune 89 company and in the IT area. I had the opportunity to learn several tech skills including HTML coding and SharePoint!
2. What's the most interesting experience you've had?
Michaela: The internship program at TJX was really incredible! I had the opportunity to eat lunch with several senior leaders in the company to discuss career paths and the growth of the company. The CEO also took the time to speak to the interns about our role in the company! I found it interesting, and was appreciative of, the open-door policy the company has!
3. What has been the most rewarding part of working at TJX?
Michaela: I really grew this summer during my time at the company! I found it really rewarding to complete longer-term projects from start to finish during my internship and see the impact of those initiatives! I'm actually graduating a semester early at the end of this Fall and from my time at TJX I am confident in my ability to adapt to any future internship or job!
Be sure to check back in again next week to hear more about what our amazing AEPhi GW sisters are doing this summer!
